Mentor Code of Conduct

Mentors and Academic Experts are at the heart of Acadeosity. This code sets out the professional standards we expect, so that learners and parents can trust every session.

Effective: 8 October 2026  ·  Last updated: 8 October 2026

01Integrity

  • Support learning. Never complete assessed work, take tests or provide answers to live assessments.
  • Represent your qualifications and experience honestly.
  • Use AI responsibly and model good practice for learners.

02Respect and inclusion

  • Treat every learner with patience, respect and fairness, whatever their background, ability or level.
  • Never use discriminatory, offensive or belittling language.
  • Respect cultural differences and learners' individual needs.

03Safeguarding learners under 18

  • Keep all contact on official Acadeosity channels. Never share personal phone numbers, social media accounts or private messaging details.
  • Never arrange to meet a learner in person.
  • Keep sessions professional and focused on learning, with parents or guardians aware of the arrangement.
  • Never ask a learner to keep a secret.
  • Report any safeguarding concern to Acadeosity at [email protected] immediately. If a child is in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.

04Professional standards

  • Join sessions on time and prepared.
  • Give clear, constructive feedback that helps the learner improve their own work.
  • Communicate cancellations as early as possible, in line with our Cancellation Policy.
  • Present yourself professionally and choose a quiet, appropriate setting for online sessions.

05Quality of guidance

  • Prepare for each session using the information the learner shares in advance.
  • Check understanding during the session rather than just explaining.
  • Add a short session note after each session covering what was covered and suggested next steps, within 24 hours.
  • Recommend further support where a learner's needs are outside your expertise.

06Online professionalism

  • Use a stable internet connection, a working camera and microphone, and a neutral background.
  • Dress and speak as you would in a professional teaching setting.
  • Do not eat, take unrelated calls or multitask during sessions.

07Confidentiality and data

Protect learners' information and work as set out in the Mentor Privacy & Confidentiality Agreement.

08Social media and public comment

Do not post about learners, sessions or Acadeosity business on social media or elsewhere without written permission. Do not connect with learners under 18 on personal social media accounts.

09Conflicts of interest and payments

  • Do not accept payments, gifts of significant value or side arrangements from learners or parents.
  • Do not offer services to Acadeosity learners outside the platform.
  • Tell Acadeosity about any conflict of interest, for example if you teach or assess a learner at their own institution.

10Training and development

Mentors complete Acadeosity onboarding, including academic integrity and safeguarding training, before their first session, and take part in refresher training when asked. We welcome feedback that helps us improve training.

11Raising concerns and consequences

Raise concerns about a learner, a session or another mentor with Acadeosity at [email protected]. Breaches of this code may lead to further training, suspension, withheld payouts connected to the breach or termination of the engagement, and serious matters may be reported to the authorities.

12How concerns are handled

  1. Report: concerns are raised with Acadeosity, by learners, parents, mentors or staff.
  2. Review: we review the information and may pause sessions while we look into it.
  3. Response: the mentor is told about the concern and given an opportunity to respond.
  4. Decision: we decide on proportionate action, from guidance and training to termination.
  5. Review of decision: the mentor may ask for a review within 30 days.

Mentors who raise genuine concerns in good faith will not be penalised for doing so.
